DS snapshots folder management

What is the best management practice for the snapshots folder in the relational data store backups directory (<install path>\arcgisdatastore\backup\relational\snapshots)? My understanding is that WebGISDR snapshots are saved to this directory. Is it ok to delete the snapshots when the associated WebGISDR backup is no longer needed?
