How to get rid of the empty space besides map view?

Question

There is empty space on the sides of the map view and I don't know how to get rid of them. Seen here:

I'm not able to see the data completely in the map view and have no idea how to stretch the map view to completely fill the area.

If you want the data to fill the entire map view, grab the Map tab you are working in, and drag it away from its location (towards the middle of the screen usually works). This should prompt it to create its own independent window, which you can resize from the edges like any other window. Happy new year!
