ArcGIS Pro Computation Speed (Internet or Comp Processing Power?)

Is the speed at which a calculation done in ArcGIS Pro done by internet speed? Ex. Slope analysis from a DEM or is it done by computational power?

Is this the same for ArcGIS Pro and Desktop?

I seem to have a decent computer that can definitely handle the minimum requirements for ArcGIS Pro but sometimes simple processes take hours and I am just trying to figure out the root cause.
