Filter Imagery Layer

Is there a way to filter a hosted Imagery Layer published as a Dynamic Imagery Layer (Image Collection) by attribute? All the examples I could find were for services published to Image Server.

I'm specifically trying to do this in JS API but am open to other approaches.
