Business Continuity Solution join table work-around for 10.8.1

We are trying to replicate our AGOL version of the Esri CV-19 Business Continuity survey and dashboard solution into our current Portal environment but have run into a snag where the join table is not updating as a hosted view in Enterprise 10.8.1. I am aware that this issue is fixed in 10.9 but I am in need of a 10.8.1 solution. Has anyone had any success with any work-arounds for this?
