Metadata Editor ignores changes

Question

Hey all, I've been having a lot of trouble with my Metadata Editor (ArcGIS Pro 2.7) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

* It is slooooowwwww. There is a distinct delay between typing a letter in and having it appear. Is this just par for the course?
* More importantly, it's not saving any formatting changes. No underlines, no bullets, nothing. The box in question has a lot of text in it, to be fair, but it won't let me even de-format the one line that actually got underlined.
* I've also had issues where it doesn't save old or new text. I just deleted a large block of text, pressed Save, and it re-appeared.

Is this behavior normal?

Not a real one; it's just a huge pain to get IT to update it for me.

I recommend updating Pro, there has been a lot of work fixing memory management in general and metadata editing in particular over the last three years. Do you have a reason to run 2.7?
