Help with displaying attributes

Hi,

I need help displaying symbology. So I want to display age and species at the same time, I know how to display my age attribute and have it displayed in age classes (20 year increments) but I can't figure out how to do it with the species displayed as well. Is there something I need to change in the attribute table? Because when I do the multiple attributes it displays my species and ages only in one-year increments, I would like the age grouped (0-19yrs, 20-40yrs, etc.)

An easy option could be to create a new attribute that is a combination of species and age range

Green Sea Turtle 20-40

Pangolin 0-19

etc...

The drawback is if the table gets updated frequently then that attribute needs to be updated.

@DaniellePaulsen have you considered just duplicating the layer, and applying symbologies to each layer separately?
