Call function on app start

I am creating a Web AppBuilder widget that would need a function to be called when the web application starts.
The standard widget life cycle functions like postCreate and startup are called when the widget is opened for the first time. But I would need a function to be called when the app starts and the widget is still closed.
Is there any possibility to call some JavaScript code in the widget directly when the web app starts?
