Near Me widget returning features outside of buffer region

I'm using the Near Me widget in the Web App Builder and I am running into a peculiar issue with returning features after establishing a buffer region. At first it works normally; I'll drop a point and set a search distance and the widget returns all the layers/individual features within that established region. But if I expand an individual layer to show only that layer within the buffer region, then return back to the list depicting all of the layers present within that search region, the map then displays all of the layers/individual features in the whole map, not just within the buffer region. I've attached some images to better represent the issue. Any idea why this is happening?
