I'm using a single band raster in a new layout and have activated DRA so the stretch only uses the data within the view extent. In the legend it looks like the values aren't adjusted as per the DRA. Is this a bug or is there a way to adjust the values of the raster in the legend automatically to reflect the cell values shown in the current view only?
Hi Howeitzer,
It is possible that you are running into a known issue -
BUG-000112368: Raster statistics fail to update dynamically with display extent when using stretched symbology imagery and dynamic range adjustment (DRA) in ArcGIS Pro.
To confirm this please contact support. They can confirm that this is the same issue or help enter a new issue if your scenario is different. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support.
Tom
Thanks Tom I'll report the issue via the link. As a quick workaround I clipped the raster using raster functions.
@MattHowe it looks like this one has been promoted to "In the Product Plan". So hopefully we'll see an update in the next release or two
It's my understanding that this issue was rectified sometime in 2023. Is anyone still having this issue now, in 2024?
I'm still having this issue unfortunately even though Pro is all up to date
My statistics in the Table of Contents seem to be updating correctly, but the symbology in the map is not updating correctly as I change scales and extents. At some scales and extents it seems to be correct but not at others. I'm at Pro Version 3.3.1.
This one's a doozy! I am attempting to utilize DRA with raster datasets in order to automatically update a dynamic legend with DRA values based on where I want to pan for my final map. While the DRA values are being seen in the statistics, they are unfortunately not showing in the dynamic legend unless I take additional steps - such as checking and unchecking Invert in the symbology pane - to force the values to be updated. The ToC seems to be even more stubborn and while the correct DRA values will flicker for a second in the ToC, they end up disappearing and the full Dataset values show up again - in none of my steps were the proper DRA values shown permanently in the ToC. Does anyone have an explanation as to what is going on?In addition to the ToC not updating and therefore not properly updating dynamic legend values on-the-fly, I have also attempted to use DRA and dynamic legends with Map Series and I am getting some... interesting results. Please see the attached annotated screenshot mosaic for further information.@TomBole I am currently using v3.3.0 and running into this issue despite the bug being marked as fixed in v3.0 - thoughts?
Thanks @SeanGarner for posting on this and the screen captures for the DRA error from you post above 👍 nice to see other people embrace the use of SnagIT for communication and documenting errors.
We are also seeing the same thing on our end while using dynamic range adjustment (DRA). Running the latest version of ArcGIS Pro 3.3.0.
It is not updating correctly and we have to click around to force the refresh 🤷
If you are on this thread please chime in and confirm you are seeing the same thing.
@TomBole I know this bug was closed back in 2021.... Is it not possible that it was accidentally broken again by some other update since then?
Thanks yes, my issue never resolved.
@JamieDodd @SeanGarner @jcokin1
Sorry to hear that you are running into issues. There are a number of possibilities of why this is happening.
1. The fix for the bug referenced - BUG-000112368: Raster statistics fail to update dynamically with display extent when using stretched symbology imagery and dynamic range adjustment (DRA) in ArcGIS Pro - broke with a recent release. Unfortunately, regressions do happen.
2. The fix for BUG-000112368 does not address your specific use case/scenario. Since you're seeing issues with both the legend in the TOC (Contents pane) and the layout legend it is likely that the problem is with the passing of information between the raster layer and the legend(s). There may be a number of code paths that, unfortunately, were not tested.
3. It is also possible that there is a different bug in the system.
Having bugs reported to Support is important so that we fully understand the workflow and can reproduce the issue. Otherwise, it is an educated guess whether the reported issue and its fix address a specific problem. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not.
Currently, I am unaware of any outstanding issue regarding legends and raster layers. I'll pass this along to the Raster Team to see if they are aware of any issues. I'll post once I have an update.
Thanks for the updates. Hopefully, we'll get this resolved soon.
Thank you very much for your expedient response, as well as passing this along to the Raster Team! Fixing this/these issue(s) would help immensely with not only DRA rasters, but also Map Series workflows.Looking forward to hearing back with any updates! Have an amazing rest of your day!!
I just discovered that I'm having this issue, as well. Really annoying that there isn't a straight workaround or fix after multiple years.
FYI
A new issue has been logged through support - BUG-000168999 ArcGIS Pro | Map Layout Legend Not Honoring Elevation Dynamic Range. This issue is specific to the layout legend not updating (as opposed to what you see in the Contents pane) and I believe matches what is described in this thread.
I believe you are correct and the Contents pane would be a separate bug to resolve. Thank you for your persistence and for the update, Tom!
ArcGIS Pro 3.4 and this still is an issue.
Hi Tom, is there any update on this bug at all?
Hi @CarolineThomson15
You can track issues from the support site. Here is a link for the issue mentioned earlier in this thread -
