I have now tested against the latest versions of IE, Firefox, and Chrome. Same result.

It could be the way you have created your layers and also the way you have defined your fields in esearchwidget.xml that is causing the inconsistency. Just something to check.

I tested both the service and the configuration file in a 3.0 viewer with the 3.1.0 eSearch. That all worked as it's supposed to, so I don't think anything is going wrong on my end. I think it's either the 3.2 viewer not handling relates correctly or 3.2.2 eSearch not handling relates correctly.

Would it be possible to move your app to FlexViewer v3.3 and see if the relate works properly there?

One final question from and then I think I'm finished customizing and testing the eSearch widget for us!

Is it possible to change the the "Hyperlink" text in the fixed datagrid to be a different color, bold, etc.?

I think I figured out my issue. When I relate to a table from a feature class, clicking on the highlighted record of the related table results in the datagrid gives me a "Missing or Invalid Parameters" error. My guess is, clicking on related records in the datagrid attempts to zoom to the record. Table records have no shape fields and cannot be zoomed to. Can I get any confirmation that this may be an issue?
Is there a way around this. Am I going about my 'FeatureClass to Table' relate all wrong?

I see this error message in versions 3.2.1, 3.2.2, & 3.3.3 of eSearch, and the respective viewer versions.

I have a related table setup with a feature class in my flexviewer, but nothing occurs if I click on the related record in the datagrid. I thought this was expected behavior and the flexviewer app does not zoom to related records. I thought you could only zoom to records selected in the main datagrid. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Are the shape and objectid fields visible in your data or do you have them hidden when you published the service? I honestly have no experience with database views working in my widget so you might be the first...(and it might not work with them).

the shape and objectid fields are not visible and are hidden. if it doesn't work with database views it is still a very useful and powerful tool for us. thanks so much for taking time to develop it.

I have an issue with eSearchWidget that I can't seem to resolve. I am running the latest version of the widget 3.3.3,
the latest source code for flexviewer 3.3.

Recently some data sources in my organisation were upgraded from shapefiles to feature classes. With the feature classes, fields for Shape_Length and Shape_Area are created by default.

I want to display these length and area fields in the results of a text search, however they don't appear in the results despite inclusion in the fields block (example below). All other defined fields appear as expected.

I have defined these fields in the identify widget (using identical field tags), where they successfully returned the length and area values, indicating there isn't an issue with the service returning the information.

All of my fields are on and aliases are off on this service, so it's not an issue of the geometry being hidden.

There seems to be some handling of the Shape Length and Area fields in the eSearchWidget mxml around line 3604. Though
to my knowledge this seems to deal with the case when the fieldName.toUpperCase function isn't equal to Shape_Length or Shape_Area.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

I have a minor issue with version 3.1.12 of this widget. My REALLY old version would highlight the search results on the map and I can't seem to find the configuration setting to enable this functionality on the newer version.

If you go here:
http://pol.siouxcounty.org/flex/ and then do a name search for Jong it will show the results in red on the map.

If you go here:
http://pol.siouxcounty.org/flex3/ and do the same search it doesn't show in red on the map.

I noticed that in your newer app, that when you click on a result, and it zooms to it, it also highlights it red.

In the older widget, it would automatically zoom to the results, the new one, that is a setting that you have set to false <autozoomtoresults>.

Not sure, but perhaps if you have it zoom to the results, it would hightlight them all as it does when you click/zoom to individual results?

Of course, your crossdomain doesn't let me search against your layer to see if there are issues with it, but I have set mine up similar and have no issues.

however, I am running one verison newer than you are, I am running 3.1.13 and is working just like the "old" one. IOW, it highlights all returned results, regardless of being sent to the float or fixed.

Also, disregard my previous post, as this setting seems to have no effect on that. Still highlights all of the returned result if true or false, just doesn't soom to the extent of selected results if false.

Just further info. I removed the 3.1.13 and loaded 3.1.12 and still seems to be selecting all returned results.... Have you made any customizations to the FV3 app?

Hi,

I have both new versions of FlexViewer 3.3 and the eSearch.
My problem is: If I make a text search to a field that has text properties in a polygon feature layer that's in a file geodatabase
as "edirne" I get no results but when I search like "Edirne" I get results. What might be the problem?
Is there a setting for case sensitivity?

Your problem is your SQL expression you are using. Use something like this (important part is the upper keyword to eliminate the case sensitivity from your query):

I really like this widget but have one question.
When searching polygon layer, results are selected in red.
However, when searching point layer, results are not selected in red (callout box shows up instead).
Am I missing something or is this a known issue?

This is set with the <symbols> tag at the bottom of the config file and can be set individually for lines, points, and polygons (fill and outline).

Also, if you are running version at least 3.0.8 or newer, the symbology can be set differently for each layer searched using the <symbology> tag.

For points, you can select a standard marker (red square, diamond, triangle, etc), or a picture marker symbol.

Hi,

I have been working with Flex Viewer and the eSearch Widget for a few months now. Everything has been going great but I have stumbled upon an issue. Currently, I am setting up the widget search for some new services that I have set up on my 10.1 server. I have set up the graphical, text, and spatial methods and they all work no problem for some layers but for other layers in the same service I get the error of:

[RPC Fault faultString="Invalid or missing input parameters." faultcode="400" faultDetail=""]

In a few instances the two data layers that I am setting up, in the same service, have almost identical fields such as NAME, ADDRESS, and CITY but it the widget only works with one and not the other. Even when I have copy and pasted exact segments from one to the other. Below I have added the xml of two layers. One works while the other does not. As you can see, the fields I am using are similar. Any help would be greatly appreciate!

Edit: Forgot to mention, I am running the 3.0 viewer with the corresponding widget.

Have you double checked that the Field names for the layer that does not work are correct (Flex Is a CaSe sensitive language) and if you try to specify a field that does not exist in that layer you will get an error.

From a quick look it seems that your NAICSDESCR field is missing the 'S' in your xml configuration.

I'm retrieving a value from searchResult.content and concatenating it to links.link (along with several flex globals), for the particular link I'm interested in, in configurePopUpInfo(). The problem I'm having is that when I click on the link in the popup and look at the url, the value I've concatenated is in an tag. What I don't understand is when I step through the code, the tag doesn't show up (the links.link is as expected before it gets added to popUpInfo.description) so I'm not sure where it's coming from. The value I'm concatenating has a space in it, I though if I replaced it with a %20 that'd take care of it. It sill ends up in the tag. Any idea where this is coming from and/or how to get rid of it?

Found a problem. I've got your latest eSearch version and it works great. One problem though is with printing. When printing a parcel that is highlighted using the new print widget the graphic doesn't maintain it's transparency. It works when using the ESRI search widget however.

That is actually a known issue with FeatureLayers and the Print widget or maybe the Servers print service. I will need to check with the API team about the status of this issue.

Hello All-
I'm new to Flex Viewer & especially to custom widgets. I am using version 3.3 & downloaded the enhanced search widget for application builder. I can't figure out how to get this search to work. I am trying to query a view in the sde, that is joined to our parcel layer (also in sde). That's really all I need to do for this first step - which I have to have up & running by this Thursday. I'm trying to search through the ESRI documentation & the 2 threads on this widget but since I am under such a time crunch, I think I must be missing something. I am using URLs for my map service. Everything is located on one server.

What part of this code do I need to fix, and can someone point me in the right direction? BTW, I had to delete some of the code related to graphical searches to make this post short enough for forum rules. Thank you!

The first thing I would suggest is to attempt the query in the REST Service Directory URL and get your SQL Syntax validated and ensure the joined view is working through the Rest End Point.
