Why does pro 1.4 crash every time "creating geoprocessing cache" dialog appears. I also have ArcGIS 10.3.1 installed if that matters.
This issue was caused by the PYTHONPATH environmental variable pointing to an ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 Python folder. These PYTHONPATH variables are no longer needed since Desktop 10.0, and can be deleted. Removing the variable value caused the crashing to stop for Terry. In the next release of Pro the crash has been addressed even if the PYTHONPATH variable still exists.
I am using 2.5 and facing the same problem, but I found a solution to it:"delete C:/users/<your user id>/AppData/Roaming/Esri/AcrGISPro folder and let Pro create a new one."
I finally fixed my problem by installing lxml using pip:
pip install lxml --force -U

Today I installed ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1 and decided to try again untools. Now AGP is not crashing but an error appears: "Failed to load system tools. C:\Users\peter\AppData\Local\ESRI\conda\envs\arcgispro-py3-clone\Lib\site-packages\untools\esri\toolboxes\UtilityNetworkPackageTools.pyt". When I tried "import untools" the errors are the same as before.
I've checked lxml.__path__ and it's correct:
['C:\\Users\\peter\\AppData\\Local\\ESRI\\conda\\envs\\arcgispro-py3-clone\\lib\\site-packages\\lxml']

If you start the Python Command Prompt, is arcgispro-py3-clone your default environment? If not, can you type `activate arcgispro-py3-clone`, then run:
conda list<SPAN class="line-numbers-rows"><SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>
That should list all installed packages in the environment. It looks like the version of lxml installed isn't the correct version for Python. You can also run this:
<SPAN class="keyword token">import</SPAN> lxml lxml<SPAN class="punctuation token">.</SPAN>__path__<SPAN class="line-numbers-rows"><SPAN></SPAN><SPAN></SPAN></SPAN>
To confirm that the lxml version being used is the one in your conda environment.

I also have this problem even with ArcGIS Pro 2.3.2. I don't have PYTHONPATH system variable.
The Python works in the clone environment but import untools gives the following errors:

Thanks Shaun for your comment. Phyton default enviroment was already set as you say. After instalalling ArcGIS Pro I didn't see a PHYTONPATH variable in my system, so I've manually created it: PHYTONPATH C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\bin\Python\envs\arcgispro-py3 but it doesn't work.

If you visit the Python backstage, you should be able to select "arcgispro-py3" as the environment. Alternatively, you can run the Python Command Prompt, then type proswap arcgispro-py3 to set the default environment as the one the application is using.Cheers, Shaun
Are you in the default environment? Does it crash when you start a Python session for Pro then type `import arcpy`?
Me too. I don't have PHYTONPATH variable. ArcGIS Desktop 10.7 installed and running correctly. ArcGIS Pro 2.3 crashes when creating cache.
I instaled ArcGIS Pro 2.3 and install untools package.After i install untools and open or create Project ArcGIS Pro crash without concrete error.
I not have noting pyton path or other else

Thanks Jay, it'd be great to confirm it works for you. The fix to PYTHONPATH should prevent Pro from ever crashing, though it will still crash a standalone python.exe session since it loads the DLLs prior to us being able to modify the environment.

It looks like this bug has resurfaced. I am running ArcGIS Pro 2.2.4 and ArcGIS 10.6.1. ArcGIS Pro crashed on every 'Creating GeoProcessing Cache' dialog. Once I removed PYTHONPATH from system variables, all is well.
I also experienced this; however, I am unsure why or how PYTHONPATH was created, as I have never had anything before 10.1 installed. Either way, removing that environmental variable fixed the crash.
I experienced this issue also. The existence of the PYTHONPATH environment variable is indeed the cause of the issue. That variable is there because I still have ArcMap 9 installed. When I eliminated PYTHONPATH, I no longer experience the crash issue in Pro. Thank you.
Please contact technical support with this issue. It could be a problem with the Python installation in Pro, or numerous other things. You can try to run a simple arcpy command in the Pro Python window to see if Python is OK. For example
arcpy.GetInstallInfo()
Tech support will be able to guide you through and likely find a workaround.

I can't find any references to geoprocessing cache creation and/or issues... lots of server related stuff with images, but short of your progress details or screen grabs, you should check your installation and contact Support
It crashes no matter how it is being created, whether in an existing or new project and it doesn't matter what initiates the cache creation.
I have never had a permissions issue with the data at any level with arcmap 10.
how are you creating it?
in all projects? or just one?
any particulars about the where it is being created?
the arcmap version shouldn't have an influence since they are separate, it sounds more like a workspace/folder/gdb issue or a permissions issue
