Adding web map application to ArcGis online map

Question

I have added a web mapping application to "my content" (http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jssamples/util_buffer.html)   but I am stuck on getting it to function in the map. It does not seem to appear and I cant add it (via add +)   thanks

Are you trying to add buffer functionality to the web map?

The only layers you can add to a web map are: ArcGIS Server services, shapefiles, CSV files, KML, WMS, GPX. You can't add functions to a web map.

I guess you have to have a server to put the Web map applications on?  Having just ArcGis online will not let you add the templates?
