Metadata mass export

I'd like to see a tool that allows mass export of XML metadata to a single folder on the file system. We back up or metadata this way since it occasionally gets lost or overwritten with bad info. Currently, if you want to export metadata, it is one feature class at a time. I'd like to do it by feature data set or even by an entire SDE instance.

Thank you for posting this idea. There is a georocessing tool, "Export Metadata Multiple" that allows you to input multiple ArcGIS items and export all the Metadata to a single folder.
