Wind Resource Modeling Tools/Extension for ArcGIS

Currently, I use OpenWind to model turbine layouts using Wind Resource Grids (data from meteorological towers + terrain + other) for wind farm development. Switching from ArcGIS to OpenWind to create constraints features and be able to visualize what available land is left for modeling takes long time and requires many spatial transformation work too. I envision one day ArcGIS can handle wind resource grids and be able to model and run different scenarions through an extension or database model. Is ESRI working on something like this for renewable industry?
