I use X-Ray for ArcCatalog(http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9ea218ff575f4a5195e01a2cae03a0ae) a lot and this functionality would be great as an add in for ArcGIS Pro.
I use Xray all the time! I use it to do the needs analysis for schema changes... It is incredibly important. It would be awesome if the Xray for pro solution would also incorporate the functionality of ArcGIS Diagrammer from ArcGIS 10.2..
This is absolutely necessary for many reasons, I rely on this tool for schema design, data dictionaries etc. This needs to be implemented asap.
Would be excellent if it didn't require standard or better
Even a simple way to print out the fields in a feature class. The only way besides Xray has been to take screen shots and paste into word. Not very techie!
I wrote a python script that will generate a simple "data dictionary" with a list of fields, aliases, types and length. The input is a feature class and the output is a CSV file.

Another vote for X-Ray for ArcGIS Pro. I do a lot of work with our geodatabases for field data collection, and rely on this tool for revising geodatabase domains, reordering fields, data dictionaries and more.
Voted up. Toolkits to work with data are the most valuable foundation for good mapping practices. X-Ray has established itself as a community need. Would be great to be able to work with it in Pro.
I agree with all of the above. There are and were some extremely handy tools that you can't get anywhere else! consider Reorder Fields script tool and I also agree that I really miss Diagrammer. I was able to get it running using some updated dll files that I found, but nothing in pro to do all that X-Ray does is extremely sad!
Thank you for Considering making this a part of ArcGIS Pro. I just looked at the existing X ray for Catalog, and it has not been updated for 10.8 or since March of 2019, which further increases the need for this functionality in ArcGIS Pro. Thank you for everything and have a delightful day.
Sincerely,
Joe Guzi
Having X-Ray for Pro is an absolute must.
Checked in ArcGIS Pro 2.7.1. Nothing close to X Ray is available. Very disappointing.
How many kudos do we actually need so this can be priotized by the dev team in the future version. This idea has been under consideration for long time?
I can't work without X-Ray (for ArcCatalog and ArcMap): these tools are essential for analyzing and managing data and maps. X-Ray must be integrated into ArcGIS Pro!
This is an essential tool that we use for Geodatabase administration and database design. It would definitely be a shame if this tool was not migrated to Pro. The Database Data Dictionary that Xray creates is used on a daily basis as a reference to the Geodatabase
Now that ArcMap is no longer available in the ArcGIS 10.9 build, can we get a confirmation from esri that this is being worked on for ArcGIS Pro 2.8.x?
Please Esri.... we are asking nicely
I support this idea. X-Ray is a very useful tool. It is somewhat surprising that there is still no replacement functionality in ArcGIS Pro (in 2.7.1 myself).
The functionality that X-Ray has is invaluable for GDB design/build and auditing customer schemas. Pro has a lot of great tools OOTB, but extending the X-Ray functionality is a no-brainer and the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.
It is really frustrating that Esri has been completely unresponsive on this topic, especially with ArcMap being discontinued and no updates have been made to the extension in several years. While I'm glad to hear that this idea is "under consideration", it would really be respectful to give us an update on the status of this. Even a "coming soon" would be nice. Hello! Anyone there?
Hi @TiffanyPuett We're here and we're listening; it's just that we do not have a status update beyond Under Consideration (see idea statuses) which has been assigned to this idea. Prioritization of this functionality is being weighed against many other projects and the team has not been able to commit to moving this into a release plan yet, which is what we need to update the status to In Product Plan for you and everyone else interested in this.
Thanks for the nudge on this thread. I'm afraid we don't have more of an update at this time, but this is a project that we hope to start work on in the future.
Hi @KoryKramer - brilliant tool, and necessary for being able to easily document Geodatabase design. This sort of function is often overlooked in Product Plans for some other interface tools - when in reality it is a more essential part of design which ultimately more often leads to the success of a project, especially larger Enterprise solutions. Too often in GIS this type of tool is overlooked. Nothing can substitute for good planning, and communication of the plan.
Agreed, There was certainly room for improvement with the old x-ray tool, but it was very useful once you got the hang of it. I would love to see a new and improved version with easier reporting functions and better documentation.
@KoryKramer
Hello. Another Yay vote here.
Put me in the YES!!
@DanielSorrenson2 and @CharlesRemmers thank you for the comments supporting this idea. I took a quick look and didn't see that you added a kudo. Kudos (votes) are the primary way (amongst other considerations) that we monitor traction and trending of user requests through ArcGIS Ideas over time.
On this one, it honestly doesn't matter that much as this is high on our radar and the team is looking at ways to incorporate the most used X-ray functionality into ArcGIS Pro already.
But I just wanted to make sure that it is understood how ArcGIS Ideas works in general. See https://community.esri.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/arcgis-ideas for a general overview and Frequently Asked Questions about ArcGIS Ideas for more info.
Thank you for your participation in the community!
Awesome news @KoryKramer !!
This should be part of the core product and not just an add-in as it is now in ArcGIS Desktop. XRay is an invaluable tool for any GIS Professional who creates/administers GIS datasets. It makes re-ordering fields, adding/creating domains and documenting schemas easy.
Good help here. Reordering fields (permanently) in file geodatabase using ArcGIS Desktop? - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange We created code to reorder all geodatabase fields in tables and feature classes if you have like fields to be in front of all the other fields. This is using jupyter so you should have that already as part of the ArcGIS Pro experience. But agree, this needs to be part of the ArcGIS Pro core geoprocessing tool. Data models are not static unlike what a lot of people think.
Xray should also support the utility network
I use X-Ray every month to make an updated data dictionary for my workplace. It's incredibly valuable. As others have said, the X-Ray functionality needs to be part of ArcGIS Pro.
So Xray took 3rd place on poll during plenary live stream. I think its time to work on the xray for Utility Network, Trace Network, Regular enterprise geodatabase for ArcGIS Pro. ArcGIS 3.2? Please?
Having X-Ray for Pro is an absolutely required
