In ArcGIS Pro, individual symbol and style elements can be saved but there does not appear to be a tool for bulk "exporting" or "saving" of symbols. See help- https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/mapping/layer-properties/save-symbols-in-styles.htm
ArcMap has the “Export Map Styles” via customize > tools > export map style. This is very handy for exporting all symbols in a layer or map to a new style.
Something similar in ArcGIS Pro would be good.
I completely agree. It is very time consuming to save each symbol to a style one at a time!!
I ran into this issue recently and logged ENH-000136480 for ArcGIS Pro which addresses getting this same tool into ArcGIS Pro.
I was able to find a current workaround for us:
Its a lengthy workaround but does work!
ENH-000136480 for ArcGIS Pro ? I am not able to see or read about this. I have reached out to Esri Support to link me to it. The workaround above goes from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro... I need the symbols that are in ArcGIS Pro that were never in a STYLE file.
Hey @WillyLynch2 I just checked in on the enhancement internally and it is listed as 'In Product Plan' I am not able to say a timeline for implementation but there are a number of other cases attached and development is aware. So hopefully this export STYLE feature does come out soon for ArcGIS Pro
This capability is of significant importance to our workflow. As we try to move away from ArcMap over to Pro entirely, it would be good to not have to go back to ArcMap for these types of procedures. @Anonymous User Where can I find updates from ESRI on schedule?
@RoseF I don't think we can see a detailed breakdown but they do post roadmaps like the following:
https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-documents/arcgis-pro-roadmap-december-2021/ta-p/1124588
@Waffle_House Yes, thanks for the link; I hadn't seen the "Export Style" tool on the Roadmap so I was hoping an insider would have more details. Anyways, I am hopeful to see this functionality added soon. I'll also have to see if there's a work-around. Thanks again!
I was just looking for this tool, was surprised to find it wasn't there already. Was there any link/confirmation on the roadmap inclusion? Thanks
@Anonymous User could you post a link to the enhancement ENH-000136480 .. I couldn't spot it on the Esri support site.
Cheers
Melissa
@MelissaBrooks I think it is/was an internal bug report so I'm not sure if we can see it.
I was on the phone with our ESRI rep a couple weeks ago and he confirmed that there still isn't a way to do this in Pro. Definitely a surprise.
I would like ArcGIS Pro to support export styles to json files. Then it can be used in development enviroment.
@baohuachu3 it sounds like you should add kudos to https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/human-git-readable-aprx-stylx-formats/idi-p/931760
Hey all, during the Plenary lunch break today, the product managers issued a poll to all watchers to see what was the most important thing for us they could work on. In the Pro section, the ability to BULK EXPORT SYMBOLS was the user-ranked number one priority with 36% support. It came as a surprise to the Esri staff so spread the word about this thread and have people add kudos. The good news is that they might get to this sooner rather than later!!
Round trip export-import please 😉
@MattWilkie1 YES!!!
I'd request the ability to export and share style layers like one used to do in ArcMap. When managing client generated maps its much much less time consuming to send them a .GDB which contains the style layers, than it is to provide markups and provide the physical symbology. I have not found a way to do this in Pro so that would be quite helpful.
I'm here to support this idea. I was surprised to see this ability doesn't exist yet in PRO.
Thank you for the comment @GIS_MJ I took a look and it doesn't appear that you added your kudos to the idea. While comments are important, kudos (the number of votes) that an idea receives is one of the primary pieces of data that we use to determine traction and trends as we monitor idea activity over time.

Thank you for your participation in the community and for helping us prioritize future development efforts for ArcGIS Pro.
@KoryKramer that's great news! I have to say I was excited when I saw it come up in discussions on Day 1 of the UC. Thanks Esri, for listening!
Very glad to see this is Under Consideration! I agree with all of Rosemary's comments here - It would significantly improve our workflows as we transition more of our group's work to PRO
I would love to be able to bulk export styles in ArcGIS Pro. I would be great to have parity with ArcMap regarding this functionality.
Hi,
Has this progressed any further yet ? If it has, could someone please point me in the right direction.
If it hasn't I would love to see this tool in ArcPro !! It's been requested for a while now by the looks of this thread so how about it ESRI 🙂
Hi @TonyKelly Yes! This is now planned for ArcGIS Pro 3.2 which should be available in Oct/November. You'll be able to bulk save project items to a new style.
@KoryKramer Thanks for the info! But will we be able to apply this symbology to our AGOL hosted feature layers?
Thank you @KoryKramer
That is great news !
Yes indeed. Awesome News. Looking forward to AGP 3.2 and these tools. This will make sharing symbology much better and like we had with Desktop.
Fantastic, glad to hear this, @KoryKramer! This will speed up our cartographic workflows.
@KoryKramer Thank you for the update! That is great news!!
This is now available in the released ArcGIS Pro 3.2- watch the What's New session--

This Idea has been implemented in ArcGIS Pro 3.2. Please see the What's New documentation for more new features in Pro 3.2.
The Your Ideas in ArcGIS Pro 3.2 blog and video have been posted to the Esri Community blog. You can take a look at these to see your idea and all others that were implemented in this release of ArcGIS Pro.
This new functionality in ArcGIS Pro 3.2 allows users to save a style file and export only any classes within a layer, with the same name as the layer itself. This feature eliminates confusion and won't helps users to reuse symbols with the actual names of their respective class/subtype. Exporting classes with the same name of layer is unhelpful. Anyone try this update of Save a style file?
Below in my example all the subtypes' classes have been exported with the same layer name:
