Can I update a feature class without having to stop a service?

Question

I have a feature class that I want to update with a truncate tool.  Do I have to pause/stop my ArcGIS Server service, or can I run the tool while I'm pushing out the service?  I'm running a 10.2 sde geodatabase on a Windows server with a 2012 OS and 2012 SQL.

Hi John,

You can run truncate on feature class which is part of a server service, you do not have to stop the service. Service needs to be stopped only when you need to make SCHEMA changes to the published feature class.
