We recently installed ArcMap 10.4 in a student lab. When the instructor or students use it, they find that it crashes frequently saying - "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in ArcMap.exe." The crash generally occurs when they select either Geoprocessing or Customize, though it does not happen every time they do so. When ArcMap crashes, an event is produced in the Windows logs.
