Autocomplete search box

Hi.

I've just uploaded my AutocompleteSearch widget to arcgis.com - but

I would like it to iterate through multible url's and add the features in each url to the dropdownbox, but i can't get it to do just that.

If anybody has any idea as to how i could solve this, i'll be happy to hear about it.

I have seen some kind of autocomplite in headcontroller, however it gives only 6 objects in a list what is not enough for me. I have quite a lot of adresses and other objects that have long name (~15-25 symbols) and it is much easier to see full list and click on needed one than type exact name. In addition sometime I don't know exact name so I need again to see full list of mached objects.

P.S.
Reading the documentation is very useful. Havo found <maxlocations> tag. Solved!

The search box in the header control widget has an autocomplete function built in at 3.2, see:

Under your Service you created on ARCGIS Server there is a spot that you can change the maximum number of records returned by the server. I think the default is like 1500. If you change this to the be greater than your number of records you can get everything back. Of course there is going to some delay before the autocomplete loads. Below is a picture on where you can find this setting.

Tried this, and still I only get 500 records returned. Where else might we need to change the max value of records returned in the code? Looking forward to the 3.2 version of this!

It is FV3.2 now.
This widget is much better for me than standard search, here I get all list of mached adresses. Can somone recompile it?

Just checked the link and is working fine for me. I'm using IE8, know that sometimes the browser causes "download" issues.

perhaps you saw the "Open" button is greyed out. Scroll down and click the "Download" link near the bottom.

If you follow the directions in the readme file, the autocompletesearch seems to work just fine in 3.0 final.

You get a bunch of "no type declaration" warnings in the Flashcommander as component, but it doesn't seem to affect it as it works just fine.

I really want to use your auto complete search tool for the internal staff at work. I have 2.5 currently. I wouldn't upgrade to 3.0 until ArcGIS Server 10.1 comes out with SP1. Can I upgrade your 2.4 code to 2.5 in Flex Builder? What do I need to do? I appreciate your work! Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Dave, I'v just installed the PreRelease version of server 10.1, and is looking at the FlexViewer 3.0 Beta, so i don'n know at this moment when i'll get the time to upgrade my code to 2.5, but when i'll look at it for the 3.0 i'll sure take the 2.5 into consideration.

I am trying to use the autocomplete search box and the search that comes out of the box with the Flex Application Builder. The auto complete search works great when i set my return values to over 16,000 records (roads and addresses) but my regular search is very slow to switch between records and zoom to. I tried to use separate internet services one for the regular search widget and one for the auto complete search but when i do that it places my zoom to record for autocomple to a place in the middle of the ocean in a different coordinate system.

I've configured AutoComplete 2.4 to my flex viewer according to readme file. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I don't see the dropdown. I can type the address, but the tool doesn't respond. I used uncompiled version. I attached the screen image. Could you please help?

Hi Vladislav Masatin, I've tried to use a service that has little over 13.000 points in it, and it takes about 4-5 sec. for it to generate the list.

I have the widget set to open at startup, but nothing happens if I starts typing before it's done, and I can't get the browser to crash.

The Autocomplete search box, is not convertet to 2.4 yet, and will not be done in near future, i'll might do another search box for 2.4, but as my workload looks at the moment, it will not be soon. Sorry...

I noticed the live version of this widget is different from the one that is downloaded. Mainly the downloaded version does not display the characters that are inputted into the search box - whereas the live widget does. I think maybe the download link is still referencing version 1.1.......

I think that problem is because the backgroundcolor of searchbox is the same than text color (using for example Black Gold style colors, see attached image). Is it feasible that the searchbox background color uses the background color defined in style tag?

Concerning to the problem with the widget is affected by the maximum number of records returned by server, is there any workaround to solve this? (because my addressesPoints are thousands points).

with the help from Robert S, the widget now iterater over multiple layers, and exclude null-values.

and the clear-button is added...

Nice. Works very well. Very configurable as well! To improve the widget it would be nice to have it ignore null values in a table....and also to be able to see the letters you type into the search box. With those two additions it would be absolutely perfect for me!
