How could I draw a line or polygon with directional symbols (e.g. arrows)?

We want to show the direction of an MTB track.

Is there any way to achieve this in the symbol without recurring to extra geometries?

I do not believe that out-of-the-box there is a line symbol that contains an arrowhead on one end. There may be a way to do it with custom symbology but I am unsure of that.
