GPS Analyst and Trimble Positions

Several years ago the company I work for developed a solution to capture points using ArcPad alongside GPSCorrect and GPS Analyst. With the migration from GPS Analyst to Trimble Positions we have run into an issue.

We have several weeks worth of unprocessed data, 2000+ points, that have been captured using GPS Analyst schema, before I made the migration to Trimble Positions.

Is there any way to post-process this data using Trimble Positions, or do I need to revert back to GPS Analyst to process the data?

Hi Thomas and Kyle,

If the data was collected with GPScorrect on the handheld, then I think the only way to post-process would be to temporarily go back to GPS Analyst or you could process the data in Pathfinder Office.  If you don't have a license for Pathfinder Office, you may be able to get a 2-week evaluation copy or send the files off to your local reseller, and they may be able to process for you.

If the data was collected with Positions extension for ArcPad, then you should be able to use the Import QuickProject functionality in Positions Desktop Add-in.  This might also work with GPScorrect.ssf files, I just haven't tried it.  If interested, let me know, and I can put some more detailed directions out here.

Thomas, it has now been 3 weeks since you asked your excellent question so hopefully you have found an official answer.
If you can answer your own question for those of us who may have the same issue coming up, or be better prepared for when we make the switch.

We have post-poned the transition from GPS Analyst to Positions Suite until after we complete our hardware upgrades.  This was to try to eliminate as many compatibility issues as possible until the entire system is upgraded.

It was my understanding that we would have to make the switch when upgrading from APad10 and AMap10 to 10.2 because of incompatibility issues with Positions Suite and any earlier versions of ArcPad or ArcMap.

I would think the answer would be NO, they are not backward compatible, but then I'm not an expert.   What have you learned?
