ArcGIS Extensibility Issue. I'm sure simple fix.

I have Visual Studio 2010 and I have installed the 1.0.1 Silver light viewer for ArcGIS. I wanted to try and create some add-ins but I am having issues. I've installed both of these:

ArcGISExtensibility2_4__en
ArcGISSilverlightViewer1_0_1_x64_en

However, when I go to VS2010 and click on File/New/Project/Other Languages/Visual C#/Silverlight/ I only have these options:

Silverlight Application
Silverlight Class Library
Silverlight Navigation Application

I do not see anything ESRI. What am I doing wrong?

Take a look at Rich Zwaap's presentation from the Developer Summit, Configuring" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://video.esri.com/watch/1181/configuring-and-customizing-arcgis-viewer-for-silverlight]Configuring and Customizing ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight, as I think it will actually help to answer many of your questions. I suspect he will also be doing this presentation at the User Conference. Thanks for the suggestion on putting together a class, though, as we can keep that in mind for the future.

This class/presentation is more geared toward those who want to create their own custom Silverlight application with the ArcGIS API for Silverlight, as opposed to configuring and customizing the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight. I don't believe this course will specifically cover creating add-ins for the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight.

Can we get a class for the conference that does this? I would love to know as much about the viewer as possible. I would sign up today if you make the class available. I'm shocked you guys have not done this already.

Okay great. So, here is what you need to do:

1. Copy the ESRI Viewer folder (contains EsriViewer.zip) from the install location, probably "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Silverlight\" to the matching location of your Visual Studio 2010 install location (<your install location>\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Silverlight\).

Just as a start, which version of Visual Studio do you have installed? Supported versions are Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I'm only asking since your path is "Visual Studio 2010 VB Web".

Also I am heading to the ESRI conference and was hoping they might have just a training session for the Silverlight viewer. I see they have one for Silverlight. Will that be useful to me. I'm deciding between Silverlight and Flex right now. They both have their good and bad qualities. I like the ease of use of Silverlight to do little things to the layers like the popups/symbology etc. . . I just wish I could do a bookmark like I can in Flex to have the user be able to zoom to an area quickly. I guess another post.

As mentioned by Gerardo, is there any chance your Visual Studio installation is not in the default location? This is a known issue, and if it is the case we can help you with the workaround.

Hi Michael,
Do you happen to have your Visual Studio in a non-default location, instead of C:\Program Files\?
If so, then take a look at http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/48114-Issues-with-2.4-Extensibility-Kit-Installation .

Hi Michael,

Go ahead and uninstall both the ArcGIS Extensibility 2.2 and ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight 2.4. Use Add/Remove programs for this. Then reinstall the ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight 2.4.

Let me know how that goes.

Here is a screenshot so you can see where the template can be found. If you expand silverlight and do not see the ESRI Viewer option than I am not sure what is going on. I have the ESRI Silverlight API installed. The Silverlight Viewer Installation guide doesn't say it is needed but i never tried without.
