Will there be functionality within ArcGIS Online to be able to extrude a polygon by attribute (i.e. such as in ArcGIS Pro)?

Hi. Within ArcGIS Pro a user can extrude a polygon by a field within that layer which is great. Will this ever be provided within ArcGIS Online? Currently a layer can be extruded but by a set height (see image below). The ability to extrude based off a field would be great one day. Any insight would be much appreciated.

For 2000 features or less you will be able to use extruded polygons from base height in Scene Viewer. If you are using buildings I would highly recommend using a scene layer for performance and for more than 2000 features support.

In Pro 2.1 you can convert your extruded polygons to multipatch (layer 3d to FC) and then publish a web scene from Pro and that will create a web scene w/ a scene layer and associated feature layer. So this makes publishing a lot easier also having the scene layer with associated feature layer will allow you to customize the popup through the feature layer and we will be leveraging this associated feature layer for other upcoming features.

You can also choose to publish this scene layer with a scene layer package in this same workflow above as well in the Sharing pane in Pro. So this makes it easier where you don't have to run Create SL package, then use Share Package(depending on size) and then click publish scene layer.

Additional things you can do with the scene layer with associated feature layer now in the case of mulitpatch if you add new buildings or change some buildings you can update the feature layer and then rebuild the scene layer to pick up these changes/updates.

Without 'AGOL' about 9, but you can have a look at those.

You might choose to support that idea, or formulate your own to see if there is a bigger audience for extrusion than currently exists outside of ArcMap or ArcGIS PRO

Web Scenes shared from the upcoming release of Pro 2.2 using base height extrusion on polygons will be supported in the UC release of Scene Viewer. Attribute extrusion in Scene Viewer is on our road map but wont be in this upcoming release. What are polygon features are you planning on extruding(building footprints, states/provinces, etc ...)?

Thanks Russell. So with that ArcGIS Pro upcoming release mean you won't need to perform the steps of 'layer 3d to feature class' and 'create scene layer packages' in order to bring into a scene viewer? Sorry if I misunderstood.

Yes exactly. Polygon features to all of the above and more. The ability to have a 2D feature class that performs everything in 3D when required (and you have the height) would be huge for us.
