How to show directed flow in a geometric network of streams?

I have edges and nodes with elevation in the data, but I cannot figure out how to include sinks or sources (which I believe to be needed for directed flow). How would I add the AncillaryRole field in the point feature class?

I have already tried fill->flowdir->flowacc->rastercalc/ focalstat->stream_order->stream_to_feature->flow_dir_network
