I just tried it myself without any errors. Attached
What version of ArcMap are you using?
Perhaps you could try save your work, quit ArcMap, restart your computer and try the process again

I close and restarted my computer an nothing happened. Then, because it worked to you, I deleted the shape from the table of contents and add it again and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!
