stick with 7 if your only other option is windows 8. windows 8 got dumped fairly quickly and replaced which is why windows 7 and windows 10 are your only options. Mind you windows 7 is in maintenance so don't expect anything new to appear and it will eventually (can't find the date) be abandoned
