Long press on map not working in Field Maps 26.1.2

Since updating Field Maps to version 26.1.2 on my iPad Pro, long press on the map is no longer bringing up the Drop Pin menu. The long press is acknowledged with a circle and crosshairs, as usual, but then when I lift my finger from the press, the circle just goes away, rather than triggering the menu to drop a pin.

Long press was working in Field Maps 26.1.1.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi @ChrisDunn1 - I am super thrilled to report that the problem was unique to my iPad and is now resolved. My iPad gave me a warning message this afternoon that its last iOS update failed. I clicked the buttons for it to try again. Following the successful update of the iOS, Field Maps long press is now working in Field Maps, again, on my iPad.

Thank you for the proactive testing on your end based on my post asking if others had experienced the issue. Sorry for the hassle while we waited for my iPad to resolve itself. All's well that ends well.

The dropped-pin currently works for me in 26.1.2 when I test it. Can you share more details about your device and map? What OS version is your tablet? Do you see the same issue on an iPhone or a different tablet (iOS or Android)?

Does it happen on every map or only certain maps? Is there anything unique about your map configuration, such as a basemap coordinate system other than the usual web mercator? Are you using online maps or offline areas? Any map settings such as disabling "Collect Here"?

My tablet is an iPad Pro on iPadOS Version 26.0.1 under Apple Business Manager/InTune Mobile Device Management. We do not have Field Maps 26.1.2 installed on any other devices at this point and would prefer not to install it if it is problematic. We are on Enterprise 11.5 with up-to-date service packs.

I just created test features (point, line, and poly, no attributes) in WGS 1984 Web Mercator in our Portal. I clicked Open in Map Viewer and saved the map with no customizations, then tested it in Field Maps as an online map. I still get the same behavior as I was getting in the online map I was using on Friday (which was using features with attributes, smart forms, and in UTM NAD 83 Zone 10N): a long press creates a circle with crosshairs, and when I stop pressing, the circle and crosshairs just go away. Both this new map and the map I tested on Friday have "Allow manual location" set in Field Maps Designer, per default settings. (I kept all the default settings for today's super basic test map.)

Hi @IngridHogle ,

We have not been able to reproduce this in-house. There were very few changes between Field Maps 26.1.1 and 26.1.2 and nothing should have affected dropped-pin behavior. We will have a beta of 26.3 available very soon, I would recommend enrolling the device in the beta program so you can test the new version. If the problem persists, your best next step is likely to open up a case with support as there may be device-specific issues affecting the behavior as well.
