Expression field in advanced AGOL view without join

Expression fields (calculated columns) in advanced views seem to be limited to joined views. They don’t work with regular view layers. 

For example, concatenate “SEWER-“ text with an integer field to produce prefixed ASSET_IDs like SEWER-0000001.

Could expression functionality be added to views that don’t have a joined table?
