ArcGIS StoryMaps are frequently used as a presentation-facing product to communicate results and insights to leadership, partners, and other non-technical audiences. In my workflow, StoryMaps are often presented live during meetings, screen-sharing sessions, and briefings where a smooth, uninterrupted experience is critical.
Currently, ArcGIS StoryMaps do not provide a way for authors to preload maps, media, or embedded content prior to presenting. As a result, content loads dynamically as the presenter scrolls or navigates through the story. In live presentation environments, this can interrupt the flow of the presentation and make it difficult for presenters to confidently deliver their message.
Earlier versions of Esri Story Maps included options that supported presentation readiness by allowing content to remain loaded during navigation. This enabled authors to “warm up” maps and apps ahead of time so content was ready when reached. There is no equivalent capability in the current ArcGIS StoryMaps experience.
Adding a presentation‑ready or preloading capability would allow authors to prepare their stories in advance and ensure that maps and media are ready before presenting. This improvement would significantly enhance the usability of StoryMaps in meetings, executive briefings, partner demos, trainings, and conferences where reliability and polish are essential.
This enhancement would benefit GIS professionals, analysts, and consultants who regularly rely on ArcGIS StoryMaps as a primary communication tool in high‑visibility, live presentation workflows.
