Misunderstanding using Shift to "Add to Selection"?

Hi,

Working with Experience Builder on ArcGIS Online.

Behavior Wanted:

We need users to be able to select two disconnected sections of land parcels and export their information to a CSV.

Problem:
The experience builder documentation says the following for the select widget:

If I select the left set of parcels using an interactive selection lasso and then hold shift while lasso-ing the second set of parcels, only the new selection remains and I lose the first set of parcels. I do not have attribute selection turned on.

Questions:

1. Am I using the tool correctly? Or am I doing something wrong?
2. Is this "Add to Selection" functionality even possible at all?

I was able to solve this by turning off the attribute selection parameter. Not sure why having it enabled disallows adding to your current selection.
