I installed after subscribing to arcgis pro and found the problem. Can't open any tif tiff or envi dat files with geographic information right now. Never encountered this before, but the same imagery can be opened in my arcgis desktop
make sure you aren't adding a basemap first, then I assume you are using this approach to "add" a data layer to a map
