White spaces appear out of nowhere in the geobase when I cut polygons ?! (I only have 3G of ram can that be it)

From time to time when I cut polygons within the geobase, blank spaces appear. For example, I cut a polygon in half and half of this polygon is eliminated from the geobase and a blank space remains and the other half remains selectable and within the geobase. Does anyone know why this happens?

Hard to tell without more info, but could be that you have unique symbology OR a definition query on the layer and the split polygon attributes no longer meet the criteria to draw.

Do both records show in the attribute table?
