how to turn off maplex in a lyr file

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to turn off Maplex before creating a .lyr file.

The .ly file does not display labels, when loaded in another mxd.

That setting is in the data frame properties on the general tab. You'll have to turn it off for the entire MXD.
