Add new fields to existing image service

I'd like to add several new fields to a mosaic dataset which has been shared as an image service.

My current process follows a post couple years ago. (https://community.esri.com/t5/imagery-and-remote-sensing-questions/adding-a-field-to-an-existing-image-service/m-p/1046493)

Stop the service first, add fields to the MD, then go to Service Properties --> catalog --> allowed fields. However, I'm stuck on this step as the new field didn't show in the list of "allowed fields".

To the best of my knowledge, it's unnecessary to repbulish/overwrite the service. But it turns out that the new fields don't show if I don't republish it. 

Does anyone encounter same issue? or Any solutions?

Hello Whitec_IDT,

It is my experience when changing the underlying datasource for any type of service, that you have to completely republish the service or publish a new one for the changes to appear.
