Multiple language ArcGIS StoryMaps

Any ideas on the best way of switching between two ArcGIS StoryMaps in different languages? There was a useful blog issued in 2017 on the subject but this was before the new StoryMaps. You could put a button with a hyperlink at the beginning of the first section but it would be much slicker if there was a way to put a button on the title page or a link in the header?

@DBlake -- We have adding an easier way to swap languages on our list but don't have it planned for a specific time period right now. I'll convert this thread to an idea so others can upvote and comment on this if they'd like to see this feature too.

This would be a very useful feature for us, as we are focusing on both national but also international public users.

We are very interested in this feature for our public humanities projects which have a global audience that speak multiple languages.

For example we are currently working on a very large project that will be a StoryMap Collection featuring six different StoryMaps. We are building all of them in English but then will translate into Arabic, Spanish, and potentially other languages. Then if we have to make edits to images, videos, captions, content for whatever reason we would need to go into each story map to make the updates. It would be great to be able to toggle languages within one story. This would help guard against editing errors and provide a potential educational support (e.g. if a language learner wants to practice reading Arabic but have the ability to easily reference English)

We would also love an option like this!

There are a couple of ongoing projects - but the main research project this would be great for is the Caribbean Studies Network (CSN) site that is ongoing work for one of our faculty. The create Story Maps in Spanish courses and add them to the site. It would be nice to have a way to flip between the English and Spanish translations.

In July 2025, a beta feature was added that enables you to link translated versions of a story together so readers can easily switch between languages. For more information, see What's new in ArcGIS StoryMaps (July 2025).
