Hi all,
i have a suggestion about the legend, because i'd like to have the legend "not exploded/open" at the beginning of loading; i cannot find and change this setting in the new functionalities layout of the "interactive legend" app. In the previous version, i remember the presence of this functionality to hide the legend.

@ShannonC If you are looking for a simple Instant App without the interactive legend feature, I'd suggest exploring Basic or Media.
The mobile view has the legend even when the toggle is turned off.
Perhaps I need to use a different instant app. I just need an app that shows locations; no actual interactivity needed.
@RegistrarSJOTH The way to hide the legend when the app is launched is toggle off the "Interactive Legend open at start" option. It is on by default in newly created apps. We are looking at an option in a future release to differentiate between opening at start when on full screen vs mobile. On mobile now, the legend will move to the bottom of the app to show both the legend and the map.
Seconded. I couldn't fine the option that BethRomero mentioned. Please include an option to hide the legend. It would be great if that option could be different for each view. For example, I'm ok with the legend being visible on a laptop, but I'd like it hidden on a mobile device. Thanks.
Could you also include an option not to have a legend? It is way too big when embedded in a webpage and often the maps are so simple a legend is not needed.
I found the layers list tab useless in the recent web app update. Why not place a check box at the end of each layer in the legend to check and uncheck (for filtering the layers)? The layers list is a whole other box with only function of filtering the layers to visualize. having the layers box and legend box just clogs your map and increases the work for the user to interpret your map
Interactive Legend now supports the ability to collapse the legend when the app loads. The setting is located under Interactive Legend section in the config panel. This update was included in the most recent (March 2022) update to ArcGIS Online.

Thanks for the feedback on the Interactive Legend app. We will be looking at adding an option to have the legend collapsed at the start of the app in the next update of ArcGIS Online.
Yes! When viewing app on mobile devices, the legend obscures the map initially upon opening. We often embed apps in wordpress sites, which further limits the screen real estate, compounding the issue. Many of the other widgets have settings for being open or closed by default (e.g. setting for "search open at start"). Please add the ability to have the legend closed at start in the Interactive Legend instant app!
Yup. Based on the 'Interactive Legend' Instant App's description, I'm thinking this may even be a bug... or at least not intented behaviour (since it still appears even with the Help panel disabled).
If it's going to be forced upon users, the ability to at least change the wording would be nice.

yes please. This is especially needed where webmaps are embedded in websites and could be displayed on mobile devices. Just a toggle on off for the legend to display on map open would do it. Thanks.
