Nearby Instant App not displaying pop-up text in results panel since June 2026 update

I have successfully been using the Nearby Instant App as a way for voters to find their nearest vote center for years but with the recent update in June 2026 there have been some major issues. I received this feedback from a poll worker and cannot pinpoint the cause of the issues described:

"Hello, I work in the elections department scheduling poll workers and we have used this map extensively in the past. I have been trying to use this map since it was recently released and am having a few issues that I believe you may want to know about. 1. After I've entered an address and the locations appear within the five mile radius there is a series of boxes on the left with no information except the option to zoom into a location but you do not know what location you are selecting. In the past that list included the name of the location and it's distance from the provided address. It does not appear that the distance is available and the address of the VC isn't provided. 2. If I click on a location within the circle to determine information about that VC I cannot select a different location to query about the second one. I am stuck on the first location I select. Same when I click on the box to the left stating zoom. 3. When I have tried to use 'current location' it is hit or miss, sometimes it will go to the current location other times it's stuck on the last location entered and I have to close out the map and reopen it. 4. I typed in my current address and it stated that my address does not exist, I verified spelling etc and ended up trying it four different times when it finally located my house. I'm not sure if these improvements can be made, much of how we use it is how it was set up in 2024 and at least we could get us the information we needed such as VC location, distance from address to VC etc. I'm afraid people will not be encouraged to use this map due to the problems I mention above."

I have confirmed that the correct layer is select under "Layers to include in results."
"Add distance values to results list" is toggled on.
Pop-ups are enabled in the web map.
"Panel syncs with map" is toggled on.
The search locator used is ArcGIS World Geocoding Service

@buliabones this issue is fixed in the app now so your original url should work as expected.

@buliabones is the app public? If so can you share the link so we can take a look? If it is not public you can open a ticket with Esri support services to work with them to try and create a reproducible test case.

@buliabones We are working on a fix but in the meantime you can update your experience builder app to change the path to the app from nearby to nearby_orig which will default to the old version of Nearby. Here's the url.

@KellyHutchins : Is this an option for all apps when they are upgraded (i.e. one could open an Experience in the previous version with a different URL, like experience.arcgis.com/experience_orig/...), or was this implemented in this case only? Thanks!

@EGlenn1 no its not. We just added it as a temporary fix for the Nearby app since it had a re-design this release. That url will no longer work after the next release of Online.

The problem seems to be stemming from the use of Arcade content in the pop-ups, specifically when using the "fields" return type. In the original map we used the "fields" return type and I tried using the "text" return type instead to see if the problem persisted and it did not. The results were returned as expected meaning the pop-up displayed in the results panel, I was able to clear the search results and start a new search.
