Mosaic Dataset Creation Issues

Question

I am trying to create and populate a mosaic dataset in ArcPro 3.4.3 with roughly 400 tif tiles. After the empty mosaic dataset has been created, the image tiles are loaded, then I create the pyramids, statistics, and the overlays.  But every time I add the tiles to the created dataset and do the post-processing steps, some show up and some don't.  There's footprint lines for all, but no images.  I've attached screenshots of the results and the error message.  Has anyone bumped into this and found a solution?

It is possible to be very controlling in how you create a mosaic dataset, but there are a lot of unintuitive things you have to be aware of and how they interact. It is, in general, not necessary for imagery mosaics from a single source.

I would suggest starting over from scratch with a new gdb and new empty mosaic dataset. You barely need to change any of the default options when creating a new empty mosaic dataset, just pick the right coordinate system you want to use. As long as all your tif's are from the same source and just have 3 bands, you don't even need to specify # of bands or pixel type.

Once the mosaic dataset is created, right click it and choose Add Rasters...

Specify the Input Data as 'Folder' and navigate to the proper folder with tiles

DO NOT create pyramids

DO NOT calculate statistics

Neither of these do anything constructive for us since we don't stretch image tiles -- we will be creating overviews instead of pyramids.

UPDATE OVERVIEWS option -- check that box!

That will basically put this on "easy mode" and streamline the entire overview generation process instead of manually setting up "define overview" and also manually running the "build overview" steps.

Try this basic workflow and see if you get proper results. You can then experiment with changing different aspects of the mosaic dataset if you feel that you need to, but often for imagery mosaic this should be good to go for general use. Don't forget to turn off default Stretch symbology settings for rasters (if so enabled) when you add the mosaic dataset to Pro.

There are a bunch of reasons why the data might not be working. A few things to check are below:

* Prior to building the pyramids, stats, and overviews - can you view the tiles when zoomed in? Specifically zoom into the areas that are empty on the mosaic dataset. You can create the mosaic dataset and skip doing the post processing steps to do this. If you can view the tiles when zoomed in, it'll rule our corrupt data. 
* Are the tiles all the same resolution? or different pixel sizes
