I built an app in dev edition of web app builder and included Arcade expressions in my web map popups. When I explore the same popup in WAB app the values are not calculating. Any ideas why?

All I can find is this: https://developers.arcgis.com/arcade/guide/faq/#why-doesn't-my-expression-work-in-my-web-app%2C-but-it-does-in-arcgis-online%3F, which doesn't make sense to me because I would think that any out-of-the-box app would be using the latest version of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. I'm also not sure how to check which version a particular out-of-the-box app is using...
I determined it was the version of WAB
