SDE Version Permissions

It would be great if you could set permissions on who could create SDE versions. It seems currently if feature classes are registered as versioned, anyone can create a version, even if they have no permissions to edit the data.

We look forward to get this functionality in SDE at earliest convinience. Our workflows require read-only users not being able to create SDE versions.

Nice idea to have this as core. Does it take the JTX / Workflow Manager extension to prevent users from mucking up the SDE.VERSIONS table? Hopefully the problem has at least been solved with that extension.
