Mailin Künstler from Stifter-helfen.de reports on the GIS workshop for nonprofit organizations, which took place in May at the Berlin Esri office.

"The ArcGIS platform for your NPO" – that was the title of the Esri workshop on May 19 in Berlin. Ten representatives from nonprofit organizations across Germany accepted the invitation to learn how to easily use geo-information software for public relations. And hardly arrived, it immediately went interactive with the use of Survey 123 for ArcGIS.

The participants indicated from which city they had traveled and how. The quick survey tool visually processed the answers in real time and everyone could see it live immediately. The first conclusion: great, fast, and easy to use.

After a brief introduction focusing on ArcGIS Online, Web Maps, and Web Apps, such as the Story Map, it finally moved on to the practical part of the workshop. Each participant had their own account to implement what they had just learned themselves in a Story Map.

Here too, the aha moment was great: With the help of Story Maps, the NPO representatives could easily and visually appealingly present a wide variety of data. For example, you can use a Story Map to show where an organization's donors are located, which projects are implemented where, or where which animals can be spotted in a nature reserve. The possibilities are diverse and opened up new opportunities for the enthusiastic participants to present their data attractively and package it into a story.

Due to the positive response, Stifter-helfen.de and Esri will offer a joint webinar series on this topic. The first date is already set: January 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
