Many people in the organizations I collaborate with constantly ask me how to restrict the content they create or have hosted in the agol cloud to specific personnel. The following steps explain in detail the science of sharing and, of course, restricting when necessary. <\/P>
<\/P>
The first thing would be to have our AGOL or Portal account and log in. Once logged in, we go to the Groups section (See figure 1).<\/P>

Once we are in this section, we have a Create Group button and the panel for creating new groups is shown (figure 2). In this figure, mandatory fields marked with an * are requested. The first is the group name*, the summary, and the tags*. It is important to add tags that are relevant and descriptive to the group, as this will help us if we want to search later. A good image also helps a lot to personalize the group. <\/P>

Once we fill out these fields, we must choose from the following options depending on what we want with our group (See Figure 3). <\/P>
This group is public, or only people from the organization can see it, or only the same members of the group. <\/P>
It is a group that one can request to join or is by invitation only.<\/P>
Who contributes content? Everyone or just the admin. <\/P>
Which elements of the group can be updated. <\/P>
And finally, if there is an open data group, whether they can access the items that are in this group. Remember that #OpenData from ESRI allows us to share information from our organization publicly. <\/P>

Once we fill out the information and create the group, we must add members and the items we want to share with the group See Figure 4. <\/P>
There we click on invite users.<\/P>

To add users, we just need to select their name and we will see how the item is added on the right side. If the user configuring the group is an administrator, a checkbox<\/EM> appears to add members without confirmation needed figure 5. <\/P><\/P><\/P><\/P><\/P>
<\/P>Figure 5: add users.<\/P><\/P>Once we add users, we will add the content we want to share with them. <\/P>In content, select the items to share, then click on the share button and a panel will open to select the created group, See figure 6. <\/P>Important note: If everyone is selected in AGOL, the item will be completely public.<\/P>If sector or organization is selected, it will be shared with users of that organization. <\/P>If only one group is selected, only users in that group will be able to see and use it.<\/P><\/P>
