Hello.
I am new to GIS and want to calucalte the distance from a point to the next one over a specific layer (waterways). I found the near tool, but it only calculates over a straight line it seems?
Any help is very much appreciated 😃
Hi Bjorn, I don't know how your data is stored but there is also something called linear referencing that might give you what you need. This help topic explains the tools: An overview of the Linear Referencing toolbox—Help | ArcGIS Desktop
Typically, these sorts of analyses are taken care of with either Network Analysis or a Geometric Network
