Opening geocoding toolbar makes arcmap unresponsive.

I am using arcgis 10.1. The mxd opens fast but as soon as i try to add the geocoding tool it starts spining and wont respond. This is the only tool that has this issue. The message arcmap is not responding pops up. I have reset the application. I have reset the normal template and created new one. It is still spinning and wont open the tool. Please what can i do to rectify this. Any help will be appreciated.
