It seems as though the GeoEvent Extension tutorials have been updated. I am going to download the ones that say "Last Modified: August 1, 2014" and check them out. I am guessing that they have caught up to 10.2.2.

The content of the tutorials have actually not been updated and they are still applicable to ArcGIS 10.2.x. I had to make edits to the item titles, descriptions, etc only, which in turn updates the Last Modified date. Updates to many of the gallery items will be coming with the ArcGIS 10.3 release.
