How to automatically assign random names on a field in the attribute table?

Hi there,

I have a layer showing the position of some vacant lands in Naples in form of polygons. I need now to assign to each parcel a random name (even just a,b,c,aa,ba,ca,etc.). I have almost 30000 objects here so I really would like to know if there is an operation that would save me from naming the parcel.. one by one manually! I'm doing this because I want to summarize my results, I tried to do that with the default ObjectID but for some reasons the button Summarize can't be executed on that. Please, any suggestion at all?

Sorry, but you are not going to summarise anything using the OID, because that is unique to each record.

If you want to add a text field to the polys and do something in field calculator like:
