Relating ArcDesktop 10.1 and ArcPad 10.0 to get ArcPAd manager visible on toolbars.

Question

I have done all of the steps for the command prompt process. http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/38344
I get Error: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. 
Please help me form the association between my ArcDesktop and ArcPad

I don't know if you have resolved this but make sure the you enter the paths at the command prompt as they are on your computer. I chased my tail several times on this and there were spaces on the Tech Note that weren't on my PC.

Hi Dylan,

A couple of things to try:

- Uninstall and reinstall ArcPad. It is important ArcPad is installed after your ArcGIS Desktop has been installed. ArcPad is looking for folders created by ArcGIS Desktop to install the ArcPad Data Manager. If it has been installed first - these folders do not exist.

- Make sure you have enabled the ArcPad Data Manager Extension in ArcGIS Desktop. Instructions can be found here.
