help on how to convert to shapefile

Hello all, 
I have an elevation data in ArcInfo ASCII raster format which i downloaded from http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org. Please i need assistance on how i can convert the data from ArcInfo ASCII format to a shapefile.

Hi Charles,
You convert it to a raster grid not a shapefile

ArcToolbox > Conversion Tools > To Raster > ASCII to Raster

Should do the trick.

If it is in Raster format, you can, if you want, convert it to a polygon. (Shapefile)
AcrToolbox > Conversion Tools > From Raster > To Polygon
