Posted Speed Limit Data

Question

Does anyone know where to get posted speed limit data for the entire U.S.? Commercially available is fine. I want to implement speed limit data with a GPS vehicle tracking application.

Isn't that the sort of thing MapQuest and Google use to give you the quickest route?

Each agency manages its own speed limits without state or federal oversite so a database like that can't exist.
